The combined efforts of Christians and Jews in Dijon forced a local supermarket to remove from sale a doll which was a caricature of a Jew. The Bishop of Dijon, Msgr. Charles de la Brousse, in an official communique today, deplored the sale of an anti-Semitic doll, “the Jew.” He branded it a “sad fact and an unqualifiable act.” The Bishop said the “Jewish community of Dijon could be assured of the solidarity of the Christian conscience with the protests of the International League Against Racism and Anti-Semitism (LICA).”
