The Pinkhos Churgin Memorial Chair of Jewish History was dedicated at Yeshiva University here last night by Dr. Samuel Belkin, president of the university, at a dinner sponsored by the university’s Teachers Institute Associated Alumni. Dr. Emanuel Rackman, associate professor of political science at the university, delivered the invocation.
Dr. Churgin was, at the time of his death in 1957, president of Bar-Han University in Israel. Prior to that he was associated with Yeshiva University for more than three decades, serving as dean of the Teachers Institute for Men, professor of Jewish history and literature and editor of Horeb, semi-annual scholarly publication on Hebrew literature.
