The Board of Elections here today shifted the date of citywide registration originally scheduled for Rosh Hashanah eve. The action followed a protest to the Board submitted by the local Jewish Community Relations Committee.
Polls are normally open on the final day of registration which this year occurs on September 25. In deference to the holiday, the polls will be open on September 19, a week before the registration deadline but voters may continue to register the following week at the office of the Board of Elections.
