Emergency relief funds were sent by British to three cities recently devastated by tornadoes, it was reported today by Philip M. Klutznick, president of the organization.
Disaster victims in Worcester. Massachusetts, are receiving aid from a group headed by Leo Fischer, president of the Worcester Lodge. In Flint, Michigan, an active part in relief assistance is being taken by Arthur L. Perlmutter, president of the Flint Lodge Funds in Waco, Texas. where the Jewish community of about 1. 400 was especially hard hit, are being expended under the direction of David H White of Houston, a member of the national board of governors of E’nai British.
(Forty-five Jewish families were among those directly affected by the tornado that struck Worcester on June 9, according to a report issued by the Jewish community this week. There were no Jewish deaths or serious injuries. More than 100 members of. the Jewish War Veterans came from Boston in a special convoy to Worcester to donate blood at the City Hospital during the disaster. The JWV was the first and only organization to give blood as an organization. The Worcester section of the National Council of Jewish Women actively assisted the Red Cross in rendering aid to the victims of the disaster.)
