Congratulatory messages from two governors, Governor Lehman of New York and Governor Harry Moore of New Jersey, were among the felicitations received by Emanuel E. Josef, Civil War veteran, at a dinner given in his honor by Buffalo Post 25, Jewish War Veterans of the United States, on the occasion of his 99th birthday.
Speakers at the dinner included Rabbi Joseph Gitin of Temple Emanu-El; Rabbi Reuben J. Magil of Temple Beth El; Supreme Court Justice Samuel J. Harris; Mayor Zimmermann; Corporation Counsel George L. Grobe; Miles D. Stetenbentz, managing editor of the Buffalo Times and George Givot, stage and screen comedian. Mr. Josef spoke briefly. Abraham M. Schultz was toastmaster.
