Immediate compensation will be paid to Jewish internees from the steamer Dunera who, in July, 1940, were robbed by soldiers on board as the ship was proceeding from England to Australia, where the refugees were interned for the duration of the war, it was announced today in Commons by Captain David Margesson, Secretary of State for War. Captain Margesson stated that the smaller claims will be paid in full and substantial payment will be made on the larger ones.
