Clash of Chassidic Sects in Munkacz Stopped by Police

The fight between the two Chassidic sects in Czechoslovakia, the followers of the Chassidic Rabbi of Munkacz and those of the Rabbi of Belz, was renewed the last day of Passover in Munkacz.

During the memorial services at the Munkacz Synagogue last Sunday, a fist fight started between the two groups, which are engaged in a feud that has lasted several months. and which had led to the mutual excommunication of the leaders of the two parties. The cantor was severely beaten in the clash.

The police intervened and cleared the synagogue.
