A Zionist colony in Palestine will bear the name of a leading American city according to plans adopted by a group of Cleveland, Ohio Zionists.
A group of leading Zionists of Cleveland at a luncheon held last week pledged to raise the amount of $100,000 in the course of four years as a contribution towards the Jewish National Fund, the Zionist Agency for the acquisition of land in Palestine, on the understanding that the fund is to be used for the establishment of a colony, which is to bear the name of Cleveland.
The decision was taken following an appeal by Abraham Goldberg, Zionist leader of New York. George J. Klein was chosen Chairman of a special committee in charge of this project. It is planned to interest a group of 200 Cleveland Jews as founders of the colony.
