Cleveland Jewish Welfare Leader Calls for Depression Measures

“We have ample warning today of the social conditions with which this and the next generation will be compelled to concern themselves, if we fail now to render effective treatment and care for those who are victims of the depression” Samuel Goldhamer, executive director of the Jewish Welfare Federation informed the 29th annual meeting of the Federation.

“Are we going to heed the signs or shall we pass on to the next generation the results of undernourishment, malnourishment and broken morale for which they must begin to build more institutions and create more activities?”

Expenditures of the Federation totaled $845,676.44, Louis S. Bing, Jr., treasurer, reported.

The following trustees were unanimously elected: George J. Klein, Isadore Grossman, Marc J. Grossman, Mrs. Jack L. Einstein, Albert Einstein, Jacob Soglowitz, Hugo Maher, Mrs. Bernard Krangel, George Furth, Jay M. Halle, Harry Affelder, Abraham Lowenthal, Alfred A. Benesch, Samuel Zimet, Jacob Wolpaw and Max Rosenblum.

The following trustees at large were also unanimously elected: Maurice Bernon, Rabbi Barnett R. Brickner, I. F. Freiberger, S. P. Halle, Mrs. Sigmund Herzog, S. H. Kleinman, Rabbi Abraham Nowak, Rabbi Harry S. Davldowitz.
