Special tape-recorded programs were sent to the Jewish chaplains in Vietnam by members of the Cleveland Jewish Community Center Teen Age Board Community Service Committee, in time to help make Chanukah brighter for the Jewish servicemen in that combat area. Arrangements for this project were developed with the Armed Forces and Veteran Services of the National Jewish Welfare Board.
The recordings included a Chanukah play and poem, special musical presentations and Chanukah greetings from the teenagers. Phil Fink, WABQ-WXEN newscaster and radio personality, produced and directed the programs, with the assistance of Leonard Rubin, youth division group worker of the Jewish Community Center. The radio station made its facilities, equipment and studios available for the recording and editing sessions. The Cleveland Jewish Community Center is an affiliate of JWB.
