With Jack Benny and Lou Holtz as co-masters of ceremonies, a testimonial dinner including an all-star entertainment and dance was tendered to George M. Cohan and Sam H. Harris by the Jewish Theatrical Guild in the Grand Ballroom of the Astor Hotel last night.
Among the speakers who eulogized Cohan and Harris on their services to the theatrical world, were George Jessel and Eddie Cantor, respectively vice-president and president of the Guild; Postmaster General James Farley, Colonel Theodore Roosevelt, Bernard S. Deutsch, Otis Skinner, J. B. Kennedy and Victor Moore.
Entertainment was furnished by Joe Penner, Belle Baker, Irving Berlin, Sophie Tucker, Paul Whiteman and orchestra, Lois Moran, the Boswell sisters, Marilym Miller, Clifton Webb, Rubinoff, Morton Downey, Borah Minnevitch and his Rascals, Will Mahoney, Armida, and Gus Edwards.
