Col. Henshel Dies in New York; Was Active in Jewish Affairs; Funeral Today

Funeral services will be held tomorrow for the late Colonel Harry D. Henshel, chairman of the armed services division of the National Jewish Welfare Board, and founder and chairman of the United States Committee for Sports in Israel, who died at his home here yesterday. He was 70.

Decorated five times for participating in many United States military campaigns during World War II, when he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel, he was also the recipient of the Jewish War Veterans’ annual gold medal in 1955. He served 35 years on the board of directors of the 92nd Street YM-YWHA, and was also active on behalf of the United Jewish Appeal, the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies, and in the U.S. Olympic Committee.
