Col. Alfred G. Katzin, a South African Jew who served as consultant to U.N. Secretary General Trygve Lie, was today appointed as Mr. Lie’s personal representative in Korea. His mission will be to assist in the effective implementation of the U.N. Security Council resolution on the Korean conflict.
Col. Katzin, who is 43 years old, served as a colonel in the South African armed forces during the last war. Later he was Deputy Director-General and chief executive of the UNRRA in Washington.
