Lt. Col. Jacob Monbaz, Israeli expert on armistice affairs and, for the last three years, a member of the Israeli delegation here, is leaving his post this week, having been promoted by the Israeli Foreign Ministry to the mission in Johannesburg, where he will represent his country as Consul-General in South Africa.

The announcement of Col. Monbaz’s transfer was made by Ambassador Michael S. Company, Israel’s permanent representative to the United Nations, at a farewell party honoring Col. and Mrs. Monbaz, attended by leading UN personalities and journalists. During his tenure here, Col. Monbaz also filled the post of delegation information officer. Col. and Mrs. Monbaz will depart this week for Israel, where the diplomat will consult with his Government prior to taking up his new duties in South Africa.
