Col. Abraham Yaffe, commander of the Israeli Ninth Brigade which, during the Sinai operation, made its famed forced march from Elath to Sharm el Sheik, the southernmost point on the Sinal Peninsula, was today named commander of Israel’s Southern Command. Gen. Chaim Laskov, currently Army Chief of Staff.
