The appointment of a Palestine Currency Board, which will have for its purpose a study of the possibilities for introducing a Palestine currency, independent of the English and Egyptian pound, was announced yesterday by the British Colonial Office. Mr. Ezechiel, one of the Crown Agents for the Colonies, was appointed chairman of the Board. Other members of the Board are Leslie Couper, manager of the British West Africa Bank, Edward J. Harding, assistant secretary of the Colonial Office, William L. C. Phillips of the treasury department. The secretary of the Board is Mr. Ransom. Offices of the Board will be at 4 Mill Bank, Westminster, London.
It is planned that the Palestine currency will be based on the Pound Sterling. The Board will also have control of the currency supply for Palestine, it was stated.
