The national commanders of this nation’s six major veterans’ organizations will visit Israel from July 15 to 19 to establish personal contacts with Israeli veterans and to arrange future cooperation and programs. Veterans’ and military groups in Israel will act as hosts to the Americans. The veterans’ visit is a phase of the “people-to-people” program endorsed by President Eisenhower.
The tour party includes the commanders of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, Amvets, Catholic War Veterans, and Jewish War Veterans. This is the first time the six organizations, whose membership rolls include virtually every living veteran of America’s wars, have embarked on such an operation as a group. They will also visit England, France, Italy to meet veterans of those nations en route to Israel.
