The first issue of “Commentary”, a new monthly magazine devoted to Jewish problems and world affairs, was published yesterday. It is sponsored by the American Jewish Committee and incorporates the Contemporary Jewish Record, a bi-monthly publication which the Committee has publised for the last eight years.
Elliot E. Cohen, editor of the new magazine, said today that its pages will be hospitable to diverse points of view on Jewish problems and on general affairs. “Commentary’s editorial scope will be broad and far-reaching,” Mr. Cohen said, “It will be neither factional mor parochial. It is not interested in propagandizing any single formula for the solution of the plight of the Jews. Its approach will be factual, thoughtful and constructive, and its primary field of interest will be the American scene.”
