A commission of inquiry to study the problems of integration of Canadian settlers in Israel’s society has been appointed by Rabbi David Monson, president of the Zionist Organization of Canada. Specifically, the commission will seek to identify the principal problems facing Canadian olim and determine those areas in which the Zionist Organization of Canada can be effective in helping to solve those problems.
Gerald Charness of Montreal, deputy president of the ZOC, was named chairman of the commission. Other members are Max Goody of Toronto, deputy president of the ZOC; and Morris J. Wosk of Vancouver, associate chairman of the commission. Public hearings will be held in Israel in February and May by the commission. The commission is leaving Montreal on Feb. 9.
