The Council of Ministers of the European Economic Community has decided to extend for the period of one year the temporary reduction of customs duties on certain items imported from Israel by member states. The original agreement granted Israel certain customs advantages up to June, 1968. Israel has been pressing for an associate membership status in the Common Market.
King Baodouin of Belgium, received Ambassador Gideon Rafael, director-general of the Israel Foreign Ministry, in a private audience this morning. Mr. Rafael met yesterday with Belgian Foreign Minister Pierre Harmel for a discussion of Israel’s relations with the European communities.
