Lord Chancellor Herbert Morrison, Labor Party leader in the House of Commons, announced in the House today that the government will probably schedule a debate on Palestine for the latter part of this month. It is believed that at that time the government will be ready to make an interim statement of policy.
Dr. Chaim Weizmann arrived here this afternoon after a flight from Palestine by way of Beirut and Malta. He declined to make any statement, but Mrs. Weizmann said that he had come to London in an attempt to find a solution of the Palestine problem. She said she knew of no definite appointments that had been made for Dr. Weizmann.
Palestine High Commissioner Sir Alan Cunningham, who is expected here shortly, will confer with Colonial Secretary George Hall and other officials. It is reported that he will bring with him information concerning the documents found in the premises of the Jewish Agency, and will discuss maintenance of public order in Palestine.
Albert Hourani of the Arab Office here, in a letter today to the London Times, said that the Arabs could not agree to partition, because the Zionists would regard it as only the first step towards their eventual goal. The Palestine Arabs who would remain in the Jewish state would never agree to become minority subjects of the Jews, nor would they be willing to be moved to the Arab state, he added.
