Top executives of Jewish communal fund drives in nearly 50 major cities of the United States met yesterday with Henry Morgenthau, Jr., general chairman of the United Jewish Appeal, to map plans for the launching of the U.J.A.’s drive for $250,000,000 at the national conference to be held March 19-20 in Washington, D.C.
During the meeting, which was held at the Hotel Astor, the community leaders heard discussions of the urgent reconstruction, emigration and settlement needs that must be met by the 1949 U.J.A, drive from Mr. Morgenthau, Edward M.M, Warburg, chair man of the Joint Distribution Committee; Rabbi Jonah B. Wise, national chairman of the. U.J.A., and Harold J. Goldenberg, of Minneapolis, chairman of the National Campaign Cabinet of the drive.
