Communications were resumed in Israel today following the improvement in the country’s temperature. The unprescedented heavy snow-fall which disrupted communications and transportation still held a number of areas, particularly in the north, isolated. Feverish efforts were under way today to clear the approaches to the town of Safed.

While the total extent of the damage resulting from the heavy snows is not yet known, it is understood that the entire banana crop has been lost, while thousands of chickens froze to death in their coops when heating devices failed as a result of clectric power cut-offs.
