Rudi Winter, one of two Communist leaders detained here on charges of illegal possession of secret documents pertaining to Israel’s armed forces, today ended a three-day hunger strike when he was promised that he would be permitted to appear before a magistrate on a hearing for bail.
Both Winter and Gustav Golobner, his co-defendant, remained in custody during preliminary secret hearings. However, Golobner was granted bail last week because of ill health. Immediately thereafter, Winter embarked upon his hunger strike.
