A booklet containing approval of Schechita, the Jewish orthodox ritual of slaughtering animals for food, written in the Finnish and Yiddish languages has been circulated by the Jewish community among the deputies in Parliament and all members of the government.
The booklet contains approval of Schechita by recognized authorities and scientists both in Finland and elsewhere who attest to the humane method of Schechita.
The testimonials have been distributed in connection with the bill which Parliament will consider when it resumes in the fall, calling for the prohibition of Schechita. The Jewish Community feels confident the measure introduced by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals will be rejected by Parliament.
