Establishment of annual educational and research fellowships in communal service in honor of Harry L. Lurie, former executive director of the Council of Jewish Federations and Welfare Funds, was announced today by Herbert R. Abeles, Council president. An initial fund of $10, 000 has been set up to finance the fellowships for the first three years. Mr. Lurie was executive director of the Council from 1935 to 1954 and then served as consultant until he retired this month.
