Members of the United Nations Palestine Conciliation Commission arrived in Washington today to begin a series of talks with State Department officials on general developments in American policy on Israel and the Arab states.
The group will pay a courtesy call on Secretary of State Dean Acheson tomorrow. The visit marks the first appearance of the U.N. group in Washington. Delegates are scheduled to meet with George C. McGhee, Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, and others within the Department. Stuart Rockwell, a member of the State Department’s Near Eastern staff, is serving as acting American representative on the Commission. Pablo Azcarate, principal secretary, is accompanying the U.N. group.
