One hundred delegates, representing all the Jewish settlements and communities in Palestine, participated in a conference held last night in Tel Aviv for the purpose of considering the necessary measures to be taken to assist new immigrants who are coming to Palestine.
Representatives of the Zionist Executive in Palestine and the Vaad Leumi, the Jewish National Council of Palestine, were present.
Fifty-eight per cent of the Jewish immigrants who come to Palestine are in possession of financial means with which to establish themselves, according to a report submitted to the conference. The sum of £342,000 was brought into the country by Jewish immigrants in the course of the last six months. Fifty-three per cent of those who possess means came from Poland.
Fifty thousand Jews have entered the country since 1919, according to the report submitted.
