Forty-six boys of the Hebrew National Orphan Home were confirmed last night at Hotel Astor, with Judge Aaron J. Levy, president of the institution, officiating, and Benjamin S. Spellman, director, acting as chairman at the assemblage of some 600 persons.
The proceedings were broadcast over stations WEVD and WFAB. In addition to Judge Levy and Mr. Spellman, three of the confirmed boys spoke on the air: Moses Padorver in Yiddish, Philip Pincus in English, and Emmeth R. Reedon in Hebrew.
Besides the Home’s band, an elaborate program of entertainment was offered, including Rudy Vallee and his orchestra, Jimmy Durante, Bill Robinson and Harry Hershfield.
