The previous report concerning a plan for the erection of a monument to Theodor Herzl, founder and late leader of the Zionist organization, on the occasion of the twenty-fifth anniversary of his death this summer was confirmed here. A committee of private citizens has undertaken the task. It is stated that the monument is to cost 30,000 Marks. A part of this sum has already been subscribed in Berlin and the rest is expected to be raised in Vienna, London and New York.
Although the place where the monument will be erected has not yet been determined upon, it is probable that it will be in Palestine. The municipality of Haifa is said to have declared its readiness to allocate a prominent site.
