The internal conflict within the ranks of the Zionist Federation of Argentina became more complicated today following the release of a statement by Dr. Francisco Belfer, new president of the organization, rejecting the charges voiced against him and his followers by Dr. Mateo Goldstein who resigned from the presidency of the Federation, along with three other members of the group’s executive.
The statement issued by the new president says that Dr. Goldstein and his followers were a minority group within the executive and were, therefore, obliged to submit to the will of the majority. The Yiddishe Zeitung, leading Jewish daily newspaper here, published an editorial declaring that instead of resigning, Dr. Goldstein should have romained at his post and have fought his opponents.
