Congregation Bene Yeshurun, of which Dr. Isaac M. Wise was rabbi for almost half a century, and which is now named in his memory, will celebrate its 90th anniversary on Dec. 10th and 11th.
Dr. Julian Morgenstern will deliver the anniversary sermon Saturday morning, Dec. 10th. Dr. Jonah B. Wise, son of the congregation’s noted rabbi, and Dr. Solomon B. Freehof will deliver addresses at the special services Sunday evening, Dec. 11th. Both these services will take place in the historic Plum Street Temple.
Bene Yeshurun was founded in 1842, 18 years after Bene Israel (Rockdale Avenue Temple), which is the oldest Jewish congregation west of the Alleghanies. Bene Yeshurun’s rabbis are James G. Heller and Samuel Wohl.
