WITH ITS SLOGAN “OUR REPLY TO NUREMBERG,” THE INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS AGAINST RACISM AND ANTI-SEMITISM OPENED HERE IN THE PRESENCE OF 300 DELEGATES FROM 22 NATIONS. GREETING THE CONGRESS IN BEHALF OF THE FRENCH GOVERNMENT, MINISTER OF STATE MAURICE VIOLLETTE ASSERTED THE GOVERNMENT SYMPATHIZED WITH ALL OPPRESSED PEOPLES AND WISHED THE CONGRESS SUCCESS.

MESSAGES READ AT THE OPENING SESSION INCLUDED THOSE FROM SAMUEL UNTERMYER, OF NEW YORK, EMIL LUDWIG AND THOMAS MANN. BERNARD M. LECACHE, PRESIDENT OF THE FRENCH LEAGUE TO COMBAT ANTI-SEMITISM, PRESIDED AND MADE THE OPENING ADDRESS. THE DELEGATES STOOD IN TRIBUTE TO VICTIMS OF RACIAL PERSECUTION.
