An international treaty aimed at worldwide condemnation and eradication of anti-Semitism has been urged by Rep. Cornelius E. Gallagher. The New Jersey Democrat has introduced a resolution expressing support of President Johnson’s efforts to secure universal condemnation of anti-Semitism as an international offense.
“Anti-Semitism is a form of race and religious discrimination and intolerance contrary to the principles of the United Nations and repugnant to free men the world over, “Mr. Gallagher said. “Nevertheless, anti-Semitism continues to exist in many areas and only a global effort will obliterate it.” The Gallagher resolution urges continued U. S. effort through the UN to secure in final treaty form a pledge from signatory nations to eradicate anti-Semitism within their territories and adopt measures to enforce such pledges.
