An omnibus immigration bill to relieve from deportation 15 aliens alleged to have entered the country by fraud went over as unfinished business when the House adjourned before completing consideration of the bill. It cannot be brought up for another month without unanimous consent.
The bill, offered by the Immigration Committee, was attacked by several Southern Democrats and a few Republicans as encouraging illegal entrance of aliens. All fifteen named in the bill obtained entry through the connivance of an employe of the United States Consulate in Berlin, Rep. McCormack said. None was a citizen of Germany but they had gone there to enter under the German quota.
