The House Judiciary Committee today restored the power of a proposed bi-partisan civil rights commission to investigate civil rights infringements on the grounds of religion.
Authority to investigate religious discrimination was included in the Administration’s bill, but was struck out by the civil rights subcommittee which originally examined the Administration’s proposal
The House committee is expected to complete hearings on the proposed civil rights legislation this week. The bill will then be considered by the House where it is expected to pass.
