Opposition to the Berlin Olympic games is fully justified because Germany is definitely discriminating against Jews in sports, Congressman William Citron of Connecticut declared to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency today after a survey of the Jewish situation in connection with preparations for the Olympics next Summer.
He disclosed that after his return to Washington he will summon a conference of Congressmen to report what he has seen.
“Discriminations against Jews are reaching the point of actual robbery,” Congressman Citron asserted. “Jews are being compelled to sell out their businesses and are not even permitted to take out the money for the property sold.”
Mr. Citron continued:
“I am leaving under the impression not only that Germany discriminates against its own Jews but also against American Jews.” he said, referring to discrimination against American films, in which Jews are featured.
“Germany is not safe for foreigners,” Mr. Citron declared. “I was definitely spied upon during my stay in Berlin. I have the feeling that were it not for my special passports as a member of Congress, I would have encountered numerous unpleasant complications.”
