A newly organized group of Conservative and Liberal rabbis in Israel today announced the establishment of the Organization of Rabbis for Advanced Judaism in Israel.
The organization, which now numbers some 20 rabbis, mostly graduates of the Reform Hebrew Union College and the Conservative Jewish Theological Seminary of America, adopted a resolution supporting the seven American Jewish organizations which cabled Prime Minister Levi Eshkol on religious freedom in Israel.
The organization also demanded that their members receive full recognition as rabbis with permission to conduct marriages and funerals. There are seven congregations in Israel belonging to the new movement.
