Conservative Rabbis, on Four-nation Tour, Study Problems of Latin American Communities

A group of Conservative American rabbis visited here today on the last leg of a Latin American tour sponsored by the Rabbinical Assembly which took them to Mexico. Brazil, Argentina and Peru, In Buenos Aires, they established a local branch of the Rabbinical Assembly, the rabbinical organization of Conservative Judaism.

The group is headed by Rabbi Wolf Kelman. executive vice-president of the Rabbinical Assembly, who addressed a meeting of Venezuelan Jewish leaders. He said North American Jews too often hear only about the problems of their co-religionists in Latin America but not about their achievements. He said his group was impressed with “the richness and strength” of the Jewish communal institutions they visited on their tour. He said the tour would promote better understanding and cooperation between the Jewish communities of North and South America.
