Considerable progress has been made in the erection of the Wolfsohn House for the Jewish National and University Library in Jerusalem, the Wolfsohn Foundation reports here. The foundations have already been laid, and the building is expected to be ready in about eighteen months. The work is being carried out by the Solel Boneh. Seventy-five workmen are employed at present.
The Herzl and Wolfsohn Archives, which are now in the custody of Dr. Leszynsky in Berlin, will be transferred to the Manuscript Room of the new library as soon as it is completed. The Newspaper Room will be named after Dr. Katzenelsohn, the friend and colleagues of Dr. Wolfsohn. The Wolfsohn Foundation has received a bequest of £3,000 from Mrs. Lilly Levine, daughter of the late Dr. Katzenelsohn.
Mr. and Mrs. M. Symonds, of Sydney, have pledged a gift of £5,000, which will be used for the construction of the Reading Room, which is to bear the name of the mother of Mr. Symonds.
The balance which the Wolfsohn Foundation have still in hand, after the disbursements so far made in connectoin with the building, amounts to about £17,000.
