Contributions from Jews throughout the country have poured into the offices of the Religious Reconstruction Fund Committee, sponsored by the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America, in response to Rabbi Herbert S. Goldstein’s radio appeal on March 1, Purim, the committee reported yesterday.
Rabbi Goldstein appeal at that time to the Jews of America to save themselves from spiritual bankruptcy by contributing to the fund.
Letters with contributions have been received from as far west as Nebraska and as far south as Florida. Several were received from non-Jews.
Names of contributors will be inscribed in a souvenir volume to be presented to the National Library of the United States. The volume will contain also the complete transcript of the Purim broadcast.
