Contributions to Vienna Jewish institutions have fallen to one-third of the sums raised last year, it was disclosed.

The synagogues were crowded during Holyday services, but pledges showed this tremendous drop, which is considered illustrative of the economic misery and political insecurity which prevails among Vienna Jewry.

Three thousand Jewish war veterans and Jewish Self-Defense corps in uniform patrolled the Jewish districts on Yom Kippur to prevent any disturbances in the services.

Fears were entertained lest disturbances result from a Nazi procession, in which one hundred thousand participated, at the Heldenplatz.

There were no attacks on the Jews
