A resolution calling on the Soviet Government to end its repression of the religious and cultural rights of the Russian Jews was adopted here at the close of the 37th annual convention of the National Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs. The 750 delegates of the federation, an affiliate of the Conservative United Synagogue of America, elected Mannye London of Chicago to a second term as president. The federation has 75,000 members.
In other resolutions the delegates urges U.S. Senate ratification of the United Nations convention on genocide; suggested expansion of the war on poverty; called for peace in South Viet Nam; asked the federation’s members to observe fair employment practices in their own business enterprises; expressed concern over “drop-outs from Jewish religious training” and urged parents to continue the religious education of their children beyond Bar Mitzvah age.
