The 19th triennial convention of the National Council of Jewish Women concluded here this week-end with the adoption of a budget of $616,000 for 1950–the largest annual budget in the organization’s 56-year history.
Resolutions adopted by the convention called for expanded health insurance, increased social security, civil liberties, the admission of greater numbers of DP’s to the U.S., expansion of educational facilities, civilian control of atomic energy for constructive purposes and a stronger United Nations. In addition, the delegates voted $50,000 a year to the Israel Education Project through which it supports the School of Education at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. This represents a $38,000-a-year increase.
