The cornerstone of the first structure of an anticipated 15-building educational center to be operated here by Boys’ Town, Jerusalem, was dedicated today at a ceremony attended by Israeli Government and religious leaders, a representative of the United States Embassy and others. The building, which will be an industrial arts home for 140 boys, will be located on a ten-acre site between the new Hebrew University campus and Hadassah Hospital.
The institution, supported by an American committee headed by Ira Gulden of New York, combines religious and vocational education for boys. It has been in operation for the past four years. Chief Rabbi Isaac Herzog of Israel, in an address at the ceremony, called the idea a “tower of strength for religious education and a link between the United States and Israel.”
