The Jewish community council of Far Rockaway has asked the Board of Education to notify school principals not to take punitive measures against students who skip after-class make-up sessions in order to attend Hebrew school. The make-up sessions were instituted to cover school work that was missed during the teachers’ strike last September. While attendance is not mandatory, implied threats have been made to Jewish pupils who do not attend them, according to Rubin R. Dobin, chairman of the council.
