The Inquiry Commission demonstrated that the Arabs are a peaceful people striving for independence, said Yakub Farraj, vicechairman of the Arab Executive, at a dinner given here in honor of William Henry Stoker and Silley, counsel for the Arabs at the Commission hearings. “The Arabs respect the government, and the government respects our rights and we obey the laws which spell our happiness,” continued Farraj, contrasting the Arabs to the “heterogeneous” Jewish community from the West.
The Jews undoubtedly think that the presentation of their case was the best, said Stoker, but as a matter of fact, “the counsel for the Jews and his witnesses helped the Arab case.” Silley remarked that it was fortunate that the Arabs had not boycotted the Commission.
