A state court has ordered officials of a nearby suburb to grant a permit to Euclid Avenue Temple of Cleveland to build a proposed new $2,000,000 synagogue in the village.
Since last January, the officials of Beachwood Village have refused the permit on the gourds that construction of the temple would violate the residence zoning code and would depreciate realty values in the neighborhood. The judge ruled that use of the ordinance to permit the construction of two churches, a golf range and a nursery school while denying a permit to the temple was a discriminatory use of the code. He also denied that realty values would suffer.
