The establishment of two new sub-commissions of the Commission on Human Rights, one on protection of minorities, the other on prevention of discrimination on the ground of race, sex, language or religion is proposed in a draft resolution submitted today to the Economic and Social Council of the U.N. by its drafting committee on social affairs.
The function of these sub-commission would be to examine the procedure to be adopted in defining the principles which are to be applied in the field of protection of minorities and in the field of the prevention of discrimination, and to deal with the urgent problems in these fields by making recommendations to the Commission on Human Rights.
