The Assize Court today acquitted 17 members of the crew of the Greek steamship Liesel, arrested last month on charges of abetting illegal entry to Palestine of Jewish refugees. One of the Jewish passengers, a former ship’s captain, testified that the Gestapo had herded the Jews aboard the ship at gun’s point. It was also pointed out that the British Coast Guard had seized the ship outside Palestine’s territorial waters.
